The DUAL started in 2009 and has been a jewel in the sporting event calendar because of its unique location on Motutapu and Rangitoto.

The 2024 John West DUAL on 6th April attracted over 1,800 participants supported by eager volunteers, sponsors and organisers. Although there was light rain to start the day, it cleared to be perfect weather for the run, walk and mountain bike events.

The day brought mixed emotions.  Participants, volunteers and organisers all agreed it was a wonderful day with a great atmosphere. However, being the last DUAL, there was also an air of sadness.
